The dirty little secret of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, or hero turtles in certain anti-ninja parts of Europe, is that the comic it was based on is basically a parody of Marvel's Daredevil. The turtles wore red headbands, fought with ninja weapons, had a master named Splinter instead of Stick and fought the Foot clan instead of the Hand. But despite Ben Affleck's best efforts, the turtles became more popular than Daredevil ever dreamed. Just look at all the TMNT cartoons, movies and comics there have been.
