What is Breaking Bad About? – Breaking Bad Facts

Breaking Bad is an original AMC series that follows the transformation of an ordinary, high school chemistry teacher into a self-destructive, meth producer. It was created and produced by Vince Gilligan. Bryan Cranston plays the role of the main character, Walter White. He is an average suburban resident with a family, and makes a modest living as a high school chemistry teacher. However, his life changes drastically when he learns that he has incurable lung cancer. In order to pay for his medical bills and support his family, Walter decides to cook meth with his former student, Jesse Pinkman. He adopts the alias, Heisenberg, and begins producing a form of blue meth that is nearly pure. Demand for the product on the streets soars almost immediately.

The show is set in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The other main characters in the series include Walter's wife, Skylar and son, Walt Jr., who is physically disabled. He also has a sister-in-law named Marie and brother-in-law, Hank, who happens to be a DEA agent. It is through Hank that Walter first learns about the lucrative business of meth production.

The show follows the incredibly dangerous and complicated situations that Jesse and Walter face as they dive deeper into the business. They encounter a crime-filled world of rival gangs, international drug trades, money laundering, and mass murders. It is safe to say that Breaking Bad is a unique show that grew into cultural phenomena.
