In this version of Spiderman, most of the characters got upgraded…or downgraded depending on your point of view. This installment of the Spiderman franchise was released in 2012. It is based on the character made famous by Marvel Comics. This is the fourth Spiderman film released by Sony Pictures Entertainment. It is a reboot of the trilogy that was also released by Sony in 2002-2007.

In this version of Spiderman, the hero is played by an actor who is new to the role. His name is Andrew Garfield. Emma Stone took the role of Spidey’s girlfriend Gwen Stacy. Denis Leary played her father, George Stacy and the film had Sally Field in the role of Peter Parker’s Aunt May with Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben. Rhys Ifans played Dr. Conners.

In the movie, Peter Parker is shown as a teenager who gets bitten by a spider. The spider has been genetically altered and it has a genetic altering effect on Peter too. Dr. Curt Conners is the bad guy in this movie and he is also mutated but as a lizard. Dr. Conner’s goal is to distribute the mutation serum to the population of New York and of course Spiderman has to come to the rescue.

There are some die-hard Spidey fans who stick by the franchise no matter what. That is a big reason that it is still making money. There are also those of the opinion that Spidey needs to go into hiding for a while. Where do you stand?
