What is Dunder Mifflin

Dunder Mifflin is a fictional retail company that primarily sells paper and office supplies. The organization is named after its two co-founders: Robert Dunder and Robert Mifflin. These two men first created Dunder Mifflin in 1949 after meeting at Dartmouth College, and their original purpose was to sell construction materials. It is not clear when the brand transitioned from selling brackets to providing paper.

As a small enterprise that operated locally, Dunder Mifflin often struggled to compete against major monopolies such as Staples and Office Depot. The digital revolution further threatened their regionaly business model, which made downsizing and branch closures rather commonplace. Where is the Dunder Mifflin Building

The iconic Dunder Mifflin building is actually located in Scranton, and the footage used in “The Office” opening was filmed on location. In real life, the building's address is 1725 Slough Avenue. It is known to local residents as the Scranton Business Park. Of course, there is no sign of either Dunder Mifflin or Vance Refrigeration. Why does Michael Scott leave Dunder Mifflin?

Michael Scott first decides to leave his job as regional manager of the Scranton branch after increased oversight from the company's new Vice President, Charles Miner. Due to conflicting managerial styles and personal differences, the two clash repeatedly until Michael decides to quit and form his own paper company. This occurred after Michael had previously defended Dunder Mifflin in a formal deposition against charges levied by his own girlfriend, former Vice President Jan Levinson. He felt that his loyalty was going unrewarded, so he decided to seek a fresh start on his own.

When does Michael Scott come back to Dunder Mifflin?

Dunder Mifflin witnesses a huge drop in sales after the departure of Michael Scott, especially since The Michael Scott Paper Company has been poaching their clients by offering lower rates. Despite an unsustainable business model, The Michael Scott Paper Company poses a significant threat to Dunder Mifflin's long-term prospects. As a result, the corporation has no choice but to negotiate a buy-out with Michael. The terms of this arrangement ultimately included Michael's reinstatement as manager and the departure of Vice President Charles Miner.

How many years did Michael Scott Work at Dunder Mifflin?

According to the official canon, Michael Scott spent almost 20 years of his life working for Dunder Mifflin. Although this is not specifically stated in the series, it can be devised based on the celebratory song his employees sang for him on his last day, which was called “9,986,000 Minutes.” Since the song's title refers to the amount of time Michael spent working for the company, it can be inferred that he started his employment in April or May of 1992. Eventually, it is revealed that Ryan was actually committing fraud by using the software to log all sales twice. Because these falsified reports were used to placate shareholders, Ryan was ultimately arrested and fired from the company. After Ryan served his sentence of community service, Michael decides to rehire him using the temp program once again.

Why did Michael Scott quit Dunder Mifflin?

Michael Scott ends his second stint as the Scranton branch's regional manager on much happier terms than his first departure. After proposing to Holly, the two decide to move and start a family. His exit is expedited due to the health issues of Holly's parents, and since she needs to be closer to home, he chooses to relocate with her quite suddenly. After their engagement, the two move to Boulder, Colorado, thus ending Michael's tenure with Dunder Mifflin once and for all. He does eventually reunite with his former co-workers at the wedding of Dwight Schrute.

Who is the CEO of Dunder Mifflin?

David Wallace is shown to be the long-standing CEO of Dunder Mifflin. He is the face of the brand until the specter of bankruptcy forces them to seek an outside buyer. When Sabre purchases the company and lays off the board of directors, Wallace becomes unemployed and despondent. At this point, the CEO of both Dunder Mifflin and Sabre is Jo Bennett. She holds this position for about a year before willfully vacating the post and installing Robert California as head of the company. His unorthodox management style alienates many employees, and his questionable methods lead to several failed projects. Within a year of California's appointment, David Wallace buys back the company and fires him. As such, Wallace is once again the chief officer at Dunder Mifflin. He also holds a multi-million dollar patent for a toy called “Suck It,” which is where he got the funds to reacquire his old company
